How Stamicarbon’s NX STAMI Urea™ Technology is Transforming Genesis Fertilizers’ Vision

Urea fertilizers play a critical role in modern agriculture, offering a reliable and efficient way to support crop growth. At Genesis Fertilizers, sustainability and innovation are central to our mission, which is why we’ve partnered with Stamicarbon, the nitrogen technology licensor of NEXTCHEM (MAIRE Group), to incorporate their proprietary NX STAMI Urea™ technology into our proposed low-carbon fertilizer facility in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan.

Stamicarbon’s NX STAMI Urea™ technology represents the cutting edge of urea production, integrating advanced reactor designs and energy-saving features that enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions. This innovative process transforms ammonia and carbon dioxide into high-quality urea melt with unparalleled precision and reliability.

Our proposed facility will leverage Stamicarbon’s Adiabatic Flash technology, which minimizes process steam consumption and optimizes production efficiency. This translates to fertilizers with superior nutrient content, helping farmers improve yields and maintain soil health while meeting sustainability standards.

In addition to urea, the facility will include a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) production plant with a capacity of 1,500 metric tons per day (MTPD). DEF is essential for reducing NOx emissions in diesel engines and is compliant with ISO 22241 standards. Stamicarbon’s DEF technology allows for direct production from urea solutions, ensuring high quality and cost efficiency.

For farmers, this integration of advanced urea and DEF technologies provides more than just fertilizer. It empowers them to adopt sustainable practices, enhance crop productivity, and reduce their carbon footprint—key goals in today’s evolving agricultural landscape.

With over 75 years of expertise and more than 260 urea plants licensed worldwide, Stamicarbon has a legacy of innovation and reliability. Their technology aligns seamlessly with Genesis Fertilizers’ commitment to low-carbon solutions, ensuring that Western Canadian farmers receive products tailored to their needs.

By partnering with Stamicarbon, Genesis Fertilizers is taking a bold step toward revolutionizing fertilizer production in Canada. Together, we’re not just building a facility—we’re building a sustainable future for farmers, agriculture, and the environment.
